Ingredients Needed
5 Apples
Wax Paper
1 lb. of semisweet chocolate bars ( break into chunks )
Double Boiler
A Cookie Sheet
5 popsicle sticks or Wooden Skewers
Chopped nuts ( or other toppings )
Non Stick Cooking Spray
Wash apples and remove stems. Insert a popsicle stick through each apple’s core from the bottom. Place wax paper on a hard surface, then spray lightly with non stick cooking spray. Place apples into the refrigerator to cool down a tad. Next, crush the toppings of your choice to garnish your apples with and set aside.
Break your pound of chocolate into chunks, and melt in a double boiler on medium-low heat, remember to stir frequently. Remove melted chocolate from heat and get apples from the refrigerator. Hold the apples by the stick and dip into the melted chocolate. Just let excessive chocolate drip from apples and fall back into the pan.
Roll the dipped apple in the crushed/chopped topping of your choice. You can use a spoon or free hand to sprinkle the topping onto the sides, or missed spots of the apples. Place them down, on their tops, on the wax paper and put them in the refrigerator to set. They should be ready in about 1-2 hours.
So, you know just how to make chocolate covered apples, but what comes next? The next step is to make those apples appealing to serve to guests as wedding favors. Loosely wrap each chocolaty apple in cellophane that accents the colors the bride has chosen for the wedding. Secure with a tie. The cellophane can now be decorated with words or designs written in glue, then, sprinkled with silver/gold glitter to make them really stand out.
